We had a wonderful time in Hội An from December 31, 2006 through January 7, 2007. We stayed at this Phuong Nam Hotel. Our superior room was spacious, comfy and air-conditioned with a kingsize bed, lovely canopy/mosquito net and Western-style, ensuite bathroom for a very reasonable price. The young women who were the desk clerks were so friendly and helpful that they felt like friends by the time we left the hotel. Whenever we wanted to go into town there was always someone ready to drive us. They also came and picked us up when we wanted to return to the hotel even though we were only about a five to ten minute walk away. The hotel manager was gracious and always available to answer questions. The hotel provided one computer with Internet access that we used several times. When we are able return to Vietnam we will definitely choose this hotel again.

We planned to stay a few nights in Hoi An in August 2006 on our way south from Hanoi to Saigon. We were directed to Phuong Nam Hotel initially because another hotel in Hoi An was full. What a lucky mistake - because of the amazing hospitality we experienced from the staff here, we spent six nights! I wish we had stayed much longer, because Hoi An was our favourite part of Vietnam. I feel at a loss to be able to return the kindness we were shown during our stay. The rooms were immaculate, the food was excellent, and Huong Phuong, Thuy, and everybody else at the Hotel went out of their way to make us feel guilty about leaving by treating us like family and royalty at the same time. They made travel arrangements for us for our next two stops in Nha Trang and Saigon and even celebrated my birthday in a big and unexpected way!

I stayed two nights at the Phuong Nam in August 2006 and had a very enjoyable stay. My room was impressive- large and very clean, with an immaculate bathroom and very fine furniture. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. They went out of their way to make my stay in Hoi An a special one, including several motorbike and taxi rides all over town! Definitely the best value for my money that I have experienced in my 9 days in Vietnam...

We spent 8 days in Hoi An and all of this time we stayed in the Southern Hotel & Villas Hoi An. Even though the location is in a new development area away from beaches and inner city, the hotel gets its charm from the staff. They put themselves out to organize our tours, brought and picked us up to and from the beach and city. All concerns are attended to immediately and because we stayed so long we got to know some of the staff well. They are absolutely lovely, caring and after a while we felt almost concidered family. There were tears on our departure. Thank you Mr. Lap (driver) and Ms. Huong (receptionist) and all the others.
Some not so good things we thought we have to share: We stayed in a family room with view to the bus depot and workshop, if you are away for most of the day it should not be a concern.
Once you leave and lock the room the bar fridge got switched off as well.
The air conditioning could not manage to cool the room down efficiently at this time of the year, an additional fan would help to tackle the problem.
However none of this would stop us to stay in this very clean and extremely friendly 3*Hotel.
